After leaving my air-conditioned coach, I hopped onto a bullock cart, which bumped along muddy tracks lined with lush paddy fields and forests.

The adventure continued as I navigated a narrow path to a catamaran-style canoe for a serene boat ride across the water adorned with water lilies. Here, I discovered the artistry of local craftspeople who create accessories from lotus flowers, culminating in a delightful home-cooked Sri Lankan lunch that featured a coconut sambal demonstration.
